§ 9-62. Speed generally.

  • It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the maximum reasonable and safe speed for the operation of vehicles upon the streets of the city is thirty (30) miles per hour, and no person shall drive a vehicle on any street in the city at a greater speed except as prescribed in this article; provided, however, that this section shall not apply at specific locations in the city where the city council, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation, shall have found and declared a difference in the speed to be the reasonable and safe speed. Signs shall be required to indicate such differences in speed.
