§ 16-21. Monthly service charges.

  • There shall be charged, assessed and collected through the water and sewer department from each unit, dwelling, firm or corporation within the city limits, the following monthly service charges for garbage, refuse, trash and rubbish collection and disposal:

    (1)

    For a family unit (which shall be construed to mean any one-family residence or apartment or any other one-family dwelling), the charge shall be nine dollars ($9.00) plus tax. The city shall make available to each family unit one hundred (100) plastic garbage bags per year.

    (2)

    For all premises used primarily for commercial or business purposes, the charge shall not be less than eighteen dollars and seventy-five cents ($18.75) per month. For commercial or business customers using the city's container service, the charge shall be seven dollars and twenty-five cents ($7.25) per four-cubic-yard container with a minimum charge of thirty-one dollars ($31.00) for three (3) pickups during the month.

    (3)

    For all heavy commercial (heavy construction type material) using containers, the minimum charge shall be nineteen dollars and eighty cents ($19.80) based on six dollar and sixty cents ($6.60) per four-cubic-yard container (three (3) containers per month minimum).

    (4)

    Additional plastic garbage bags may be purchased for six dollars ($6.00) per box (50 bags) plus tax.

    (5)

    Brush and limb pickup service will be fifty dollars ($50.00) per hour loading time rate after the first fifteen (15) minutes.

    (6)

    The monthly service charges for garbage, refuse, trash and rubbish collection and disposal for nonresidents of the city shall be double the above-specified rates.

    The above charges shall be paid each month and within twenty (20) days of the date of the monthly bill; otherwise service shall be discontinued.
